This is a short and relatively uninteresting section of the coast, mostly along bike paths at the side of the coastal road. Unfortunately, the ocean is not often visible here and most of the beaches are private. This is only about 7 miles, but is sufficiently different in character from the road further south that I’ve made a separate report for this short road. From the entrance of Sandy Hook south to the Rumson Bridge about 3 miles there is a separate bike path consisting of concrete sidewalk slabs at the base of the sea wall. For the next mile through the beach town of Sea Bright there is no path for bikes, but the road is amply wide. From the town of Sea Bright down to Long Branch about 3 miles there is a very wide marked shoulder about 8 feet where bikes can ride with a great deal of elbow room.

The majestic structure was designed by Isaac Conro and has been guiding seafarers since New Jersey Transit Bus drops visitors off near the park entrance gates. However, bus passengers will have to walk once inside the park to the Sandy Hook Lighthouse, which sits on the far end of the seven-mile long recreation area. The Gateway National Recreation Area will close the park gates once the parking lots reach full capacity.
You’ll never want to come back to the dock — after a day on the water with the HI HOOK II and its crew. Licensed for charter parties up to six passengers, we sail out of Lockwood Boat Works, Sandy Hook/Raritan Bay, New Jersey waters.
Featured , Jersey Shore , Surfcasting. South Jersey has incredible backwater fishing through its network of bays, creeks and lagoons. The boat fishing in the region is excellent as well. Offshore humps serve as staging areas for migrating stripers and the water exchange at the large inlets form impressive rips where bass stop to feed in the spring and fall.
The surf fishing, however, is not quite as impressive. Flat, slowly sloping beaches and shallow water give most surfcasters enough reason to set their sights on LBI and parts north. Hefty striped bass move through in the spring and fall, and anglers lucky enough to intercept them enjoy excellent fishing. Clams are unquestionably the most popular bait—the fresher the better.
Fresh bunker also works, and will help deter some of the less desirable species like dogfish and skates. Fresh or even live mullet is another excellent choice. Most often, a 3-ounce pyramid sinker will do the trick. The best rig depends on the bait. Mullet and bunker are best fished on a fish-finder rig because the sliding sinker will allow the fish to eat these larger baits without feeling any resistance. Clams will work on either a fish-finder or a high-low rig as stripers inhale these soft baits immediately, allowing an angler to set the hook as soon as he feels a bump.

I would like to meet someone who likes to flirt and is honest. Jealousy is OUT – if I see something that I think is questionable, I walk over and if you acknowlde me fine – if not, no problem, just don’t look for me later. I would like to find a man confident enough to do the same.

But Sam interrupts their summit, and the house quickly divides along gender lines.
Offshore Dumping Grounds With rare exceptions, scuba diving is a bottom-fixated activity. In the region covered in this website, one may encounter many different bottom types, from rocky pinnacles around Block Island to white sands off Cape May to mud and oyster beds in any estuary. This variation is far greater and more interesting than is found in the tropics.
Here is some explanation of what bottom compositions are found where and why:

First Atlas Title page. First atlas of the New Jersey coastal regions. Displayed in these pages is the golden age of the Jersey shore, certainly the state’s most volatile landscape to be mapped over the past years. The volume’s numerous elaborate engravings of public and private properties and the detailed hand-colored plans of towns and villages—all demonstrate the publisher’s desire “to preserve and perpetuate in some substantial form a record of the past and present condition of that portion of New Jersey.
The first hundred pages document the history of the New Jersey coast, by county and township, and provide biographical sketches of the “most prominent citizens along the coast, who, by their talents, industry, or means, had materially aided to advance [its] growth and prosperity” [p.
